National Museum, Oslo
The project
The National Museum in Oslo is one of the Nordic region's largest cultural buildings, with extensive glazed public areas. Spaces like this demand heating that keeps visitors comfortable and conditions stable, without any visible equipment that would compete with the architecture or the exhibits.
The challenge
Large glazed facades create cold downdraught: air chilled by the glass falls to the floor, causing draughts and uneven temperatures right where visitors walk. Traditional radiators would be visually intrusive and poorly placed for glazing. The museum needed heat delivered exactly along the glass line — discreetly and evenly.
The Konveka solution
Konveka FH4-M trench heaters were installed recessed into the floor along the glazing. Their tangential EC fans deliver high, controllable output while the units stay flush with the floor, invisible in the finished space. Positioned directly at the facade, they form a warm air curtain that neutralises downdraught and keeps the perimeter comfortable.
The result
Even, draught-free comfort along the glazed areas with no visible heating equipment — heat is exactly where it is needed while the architecture stays uninterrupted. The EC fans allow quiet operation at part load and full output on the coldest days, and the stainless-steel construction suits a demanding public building.
